Experience the Joy of Off Road Vehicle Joy Rides on your Idaho Vacations at Saint Anthony Sand Dunes
Are you adventureous soul that is always looking for a new place to experiene on your Idaho vacation with adventure and yet great thrills? If so you may want to stop by Saint Anthony Sand Dunes and take your off road vehicle and face the adventure provided by this huge playground. There are over 10,000 acres of dunes which rise to over four hundred feet for you to test your fears on.
If you are not an off road vehicle rider there are still fun times available whether it is by climbing or horseback riding among the dunes. There are fifeteen continuous miles of barren sand for you to enjoy.
White Sands in NM isn't the only area with the beautiful white quartz sand. St. Anthony Sand Dunes is another one where the sand grows 8 feet each year.
There are camping sites for you to settle in at but be ready for some primitive camping at some of them. They are unimproved with out door toilets - however there are a few that are full service for those that don't want to go to the extreme. Recreational vehicles are also permitted and there is a gravel parking area for them with hook ups, even a store of sorts to buy you those items that you forgot to pack.
Discover the adventures of Choke Cherry where you will probably have to ride up the back side since the front is too steep for most vehicles. Then off to Devil's Dune and Dead Horse Bowl along with a whole variety of other locations that you will discover as you ride the area. Do not simply visit at the "main" dunes, check out those less used, and find the spot that is perfect for your desires.
Thunder Mountain is where everyone races so if you are into racing this is the place to be. You probably will want to race to the top and then ride back down since the other side is very steep and not appropriate to racing.
The park is under the control of the BLM. There are regulations, like a five mph speed limit in the campgrounds that must be obeyed so you don't disturb the other campers. If you abuse this you will be asked to leave, and you should be!!
The dunes are located just 50 miles northwest of Idaho Falls, nearby Saint Anthony in the beautiful Eastern area of Idaho, on of the more popular Idaho attractions. Come and visit and come again and often, you are more than welcome.
