Using GPS Naviagition Software For Your Benefit

Are you addicted to watching films that feature high-tech computer gadgetry that can locate wherever you are just like in the film "Enemy of the State"? Have you ever speculated or viewed it to be so absurd and was just a part of the creative imagination of the filmmakers? Well, think again.

The stuff that we have long been watching in techno-thrillers are now not just the ourcome of fertile minds but a reality that is being used not to track villains and desperate heroes but is used in providing steering services. The Global Positioning System or more commonly known as GPS is a worldwide satellite navigational system formed by 24 satellites orbiting the earth and their corresponding receivers on the earth.

The GPS satellites orbit the earth and pass on digital radio signals that contain data which it conveys to the receivers. Developed and operated by the U.S. Department of Defense it was initially used to provide all-weather round-the-clock navigation capabilities for military ground, sea, and air forces. Now it is also operated for cartography, forestry, mineral exploration, wildlife habitation management, monitoring the movement of people and things and bringing precise timing to the world.

As it is now being used in civilian applications, everyone can now relish the benefits that the GPS provides. GPS software now runs on Desktop PC's, pocket PC's, Palm PDA's and now also on GPS phones. It can create/generate and manage waypoints and directs a lot easier and even more precise in planning. On the other hand, when you are in the field in which you cannot log on to a desktop PC, you can use your GPS software to create new paths.

As we continue to evolve, discover and develop new things, we must also keep in our minds that part of evolution is altering directions and traditions. We may grow and, as described in countless science fiction films, live in Mars in the future, we must never part with the concept of cooperation and unity which is the true backbone of humanity. GPS Navigation systems can make the idea of global unity feasible in the near future by making people work closer together.

Gps Navigation Devices

GPS Systems have become increasingly popular, portable and affordable. Sales for this small navigation system are off the charts, and they are the hottest ticket at every electronics store and big box retailer around.

So what is GPS exactly, how does it work, and why is it so popular? What other uses are there for technology? For the answers to this and more, keep reading.

What is GPS?

GPS is an abbreviation for Global Positioning System. This technology was developed by the US Department of Defense, and employs a network of 24 strategically placed satellites around the globe. It was originally intended for military use only, but the government made it available for anyone to use in the 1980s. That coupled with latest advances in portable technology has made GPS the new hot item. It is extremely popular with those who drive for a living, such as couriers.

How Does it Work?

A GPS Navigation Devices uses signals transmitted by these GPS satellites to triangulate exact locations. The 24 satellites circle the planet twice a day and transmit signals to the earth, which are what the receivers use. The receivers basically use the difference between the time a signal was transmitted and received to calculate how far away the satellite is.

In order to track movement as well as calculate an object's latitude and longitude, a GPS receiver has to get signals from at least three satellites. If you add one more satellite to the mix, you can track altitude as well. One the receiver has the location, other variables can be accounted for such as speed, distance to destination, and more.

New advances in GPS technology such as Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and Differential GPS (DGPS) have made it possible to get accuracy down to within three meters of a signal. While WAAS is widely available in newer GPS systems, DGPS requires additional equipment and is mostly used in marine systems and by the US Coast Guard.

Popular Uses for GPS

The most common application for GPS is in small receivers that can be mounted in your car or carried by hand. These compact devices are usually used for directions, and include speakers that give turn by turn spoken directions to avoid being distracted by looking at a tiny map. But GPS users are discovering new uses for the technology daily.

One of the first widespread uses of GPS before the handheld was the Lo-Jack. This was a chip implanted in a vehicle that police stations could use to locate stolen vehicles. The Lo-Jack became the inspiration for locating other objects, especially living ones.

GPS collars have become popular for wandering pets. So when little Spot or Fluffy can't be found, you can simply use a GPS signal to find them. Missing children can be found with a popular cell phone software that uses the GPS signal to locate them.

The new handheld revolution owes a lot of its success to the iPod. This popular portable music player spawned the invention of parallel hard-drive technology, which allows you to double the disk space of a hard drive without increasing the physical dimensions.

So as you can see, the GPS Navigation Devices have a lot a reasons for its recent success. And with a sharp and steady increase in sales, the technology has become a lot more popular and affordable than before. You can buy a inexpensive receiver with a major name brand starting at about $150.

Why Convert Your Car To A Water Car?

run your car on water - How exactly do you convert a traditional gas-powered car into a water-fueled car? First, what you need to do is add a water electrolysis system in to your car. The water electrolysis system is responsible for splitting the water molecules. Through this method, you will be able to utilize more water and less gas on your engine enabling you to save 50% more on gas. Another good thing is that once your car becomes a water-powered hybrid, you will notice that there is a reduction in the number of emissions hence making you qualified for a tax refund just because you are driving a low emission car.

run your car on water - Always keep an open mind. It is possible to convert a combustion engine to run on hydrogen. As a matter of fact, you can actually make your own water electrolysis system even without any help from a professional. Don’t worry. Just in case the conversion did not achieve the desired results, you can always go back to the traditional gas-powered system without any damages to your car or modification on the car’s performance. But do you know that converting your car to a water-fueled hybrid car can actually increase its mileage? Think of it this way. Imagine the benefits that you will reap if you are using a water-fueled car. First of all, you don’t need to feel guilty of polluting your surroundings because your vehicle emits less. In addition to that your hybrid car has more mileage and gas consumption is greatly reduced. These reasons are enough to prompt you to convert your traditional car to a water-fueled hybrid.

run your car on water - Is it really possible to drive a hybrid car that will run on water? Even with the onset of hybrid cars, driving a hybrid car that runs on water makes most people skeptical. In spite of these conditions, there are still quite a number of people who will prove that running a car on water is possible and offers a great alternative. But you first need to buy a good guide made by a real professional who is knowledgeable with hybrid cars and how these work. Tell you honestly, most guides out there can be difficult to comprehend so take your time when choosing one then pick wisely. In terms of the money that will be used to buy the parts to make a water-powered car, it should cost you at around $200.

You are probably wondering why only a few people have heard about this system or why it wasn’t so accepted or even promoted. This is largely due to so many false information or myths about water as fuel! At the same time, oil companies do not welcome the idea of people using water instead of gas as fuel because this would definitely lead to oil companies losing business and probably going bankrupt. At first, it may come out as surreal and unbelievable that a water-powered car does really exist. But it is very real and nowadays quite a number of people have converted or implemented on their cars the water for fuel systems.

Fun Road Trips

Traveling can be an utter blast. That is of course, if you know where you're going. Although it can be exciting to just tackle the highway with no destination in mind other than cool new places, it's not so great when you can't find your way back home. This is why modern-day road trips require something a bit more advanced than a paper road map that smacks you in the face every time you attempt to adjust or fold it. What you need is a GPS navigation system. Fortunately these are available in any electronics store now days. So if your vehicle didn't come standard with one, no worries. Add one of these nifty innovations to your dashboard. The next time you hit the highway, you'll know the best route to anywhere you please.

We all recall a few past road trips as children. Some of them probably consisted of our folks getting lost and/or confused. If your family was anything like mine, your father would drive most of the time, while your mother struggled endlessly with a map. The whole time this was going on, you were probably fighting in the back seat with your sibling or jamming to a Walkman. Yeah, sound familiar yet? Anyway, this is pretty much how road trips went for our family. One of my favorites was to the Mall of America. We were driving from Elkader, Iowa all the way up through Minnesota. It wasn't too bad overall. Although once we got close to the mall, my father refused to acquire directions from anyone around. Fortunately we finally found it with the trial and error process. Thank God! A new GPS system would have taken us straight to this location without effort. Where were these back then?

Is it time for your next adventure yet? Plan your road trips using the web. This makes things so much easier. If you don't have a GPS system, the Internet can do all the work for you ahead of time. Personally I like to use both when heading out on crazy road trips with the family. It's nice to have the device and hard copies to resort to if need be. One aspect you will want to pay attention to when planning road trips is the route. There are different routes to many places. Are you looking for the shortest one or the scenic one? Just some food for thought. Happy tripping!

Finding The Most Suitable Cell Phone Plan And The Best Phone Dialer Software

Most owners of cell phones should look carefully at the cell phone plans available; with this abundance you would be wise not sign up for just any type of plan. With the rapid evolution of communications technology, a lot of services are being offered with the combined phone answering software on the package/plans. As there are so many service providers now, you would be advised to check out as many types of plans as possible; care is required otherwise a buyer can be tied to a contract they do not want.

For those people that believe their usage would be better suited to a monthly cell phone plan then the consideration is having a charge for each minute used or by the second. There are many plans available today, in fact some change by the day so you would be wise to look carefully, especially at those with a monthly agreement. But if you are business person who needs all the functionalities offered in every phone recording software, you might want to look for cell phone companies that have the same services as those found in commercial intercom systems.

You also have the option of having a family plan or one based on the region in which you live. Before you get too excited it is a good idea to check exactly what is included in these agreements.

Be aware though that many prepaid cellular phones do not always have all the features of their monthly pay cousins. Businesses for example would not benefit from the family option. If you belong to this group, you might want to look for cell phones that have almost the same features as those phones that have commercial voice mail systems which would be more beneficial for heavy travelers and business people.

For the family user, cellular phone usage discounts are included if you call members of the family that you list on the same bill. There are also discounts for the airtime usage of family members using this particular scheme. Although for companies and other businesses this may not be a viable plan as they need plans that could act like pbx phone systems, which are used the most for their communication purposes.

The national cell phone plan usually attracts large businesses and organizations with offices and operatives Nationwide. There are no roaming charges for this type scheme which is another advantage that many business people find will actually win them over, and the fact that this plan is available on most cell phones which have the same capabilities as that of pbx phone systems.

If you only require a regional plan then be aware that if you make national calls then these will be chargeable but probably at a discounted rate. Travelers may not find the prepaid option flexible enough for their work; the more traditional cell phone plan may be more suitable.

One final note; your health is more important than the fact that people can reach you whenever they feel the need, so do yourself a favor and do not let people disturb you when you are having quality private time so switch your cell phone off occasionally.

GPS Devices & Tracking

A GPS (Global Positioning System) unit has the primary function of calculating its own location on land or water by using satellite signals. Once the GPS unit knows its own location, it can help the user determine direction and distance to other known locations. For instance, a GPS on a boat can tell the captain how far it is to the shoreline or how far it is to a favorite fishing spot. For the outdoor sportsman a GPS can help with finding your campsite, your vehicle or your next geocache. Popular outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting, fishing, trail running, backpacking, rock climbing, canyoneering and canoeing are all made more enjoyable and safer when you take along your GPS.

The advantage to a portable GPS, besides actually helping you find your location, is that it is small enough to not be a bothersome bit of luggage when you leave for camping trips. Instead of worrying about finding extra cargo space for your enormous GPS contraption, you simply slip the GPS in your pocket until it is needed. When buying a GPS system the first thing to consider is how you intend to use it. If you plan on using it while on foot, you'll want a GPS that is lightweight, compact, weather resistant and that is equipped with features important to foot travel.
