Your Car's Check Engine Light

Even though I have done some research into the problems that might make a check engine light ignite, I still get a little leery about driving with this flashing beacon of impending doom glairing in my face. The whole thing is really distracting. My own aversions to the warning light aside, there might be little worry associated with the check engine light.

I guess that it’s your car’s way of saying, “Hey, pay attention to me.” I add this because I have taken my vehicle to the real-live mechanic only to have him say that there is nothing really wrong. A handful of dollars later, the check engine light is off and I am back on the road breathing a sigh of relief.

So why the dread when I see the check engine light turn on? There is always the possibility that there is a significant problem that is going to cause me a lot of trouble if I don’t get it fixed right away. There is also the possibility that this problem is going to wreck havoc on my budget.

Even though it is a source of stress, I am still glad that the check engine light is a functioning part of my vehicle. I hate to see it light up but I would really hate to see what would happen if I ignored my motor when it is trying to tell me something.
