Improve Mileage By Increasing MPG's

Trying to figure out how to get more miles per gallon on your vehicle? The best advice for getting the best gas mileage is to service and maintenance your vehicles. We often get caught up in day to day activities but fail to schedule regular vehicle maintenance and by doing this we often fail to get the best gas mileage.

When was you last vehicle tune up? Has it been a few years or has your vehicle been running or idling rough including a drop in miles per gallon then you may want to consider a vehicle tuneup.

A complete tuneup with an engine diagnostic test is performed. Spark plugs and air filters are usually replaced and spark plug wires if found defective will be replaced. At this point gasoline and airflow adjustments are performed.

It may be found that your diesel engine has a defective glow plug or your gas engine has a clogged or dirty fuel injectors then your engine performance will be poor.

An engine diagnostic my uncover a faulty sensor or oxygen sensor that may need to be replaced to keep your engine running at peak performance and your emissions at minimal levels.

A weak battery my be discovered or a faulty alternator that may be drawing more current or putting a load on your charging system further impacting your gas mileage.

A properly performed tuneup can in most cases result in an increase in gas mileage. It would not be unusual to see mileage increases of 40% in a worse case scenario.

Some of this stuff you can do it yourself such as checking tire pressure and if properly inflated can get about 2 to 3 % better gas mileage. A do it yourself dirty air filter replacement can save you up to 10% in fuel savings. A gas additive can save help keep fuel injectors and engine clean of carbon buildup varnish but always check your owners manual before adding any additives to your gas tank. Just a few simple do it yourself tips could save you hundreds at the pump and get you more miles per gallon by increasing your gas mileage.
